Location The River House is approximately a two and a half to three hour drive south of the airport (dependant on traffic!). (approx 120km)

Language/Time Difference /Climate English is widely understood in Sri Lanka. The official languages of Sri Lanka are Sinhala, Tamil & English. Sri Lanka is 5 ½ hours ahead of GMT and enjoys a tropical climate year-round. The South West Coastal sea/ beach is best from October to May (most sunshine and least rain). March/ April is the hottest time of the year.

Transportation during your stay The Taru Villas “tuc tuc” & driver is available for transportation to and from the nearest town Balapitiya and for local sight seeing within a 5km radius, free of charge. For short day-trips or half-day sight-seeing, guests can arrange a vehicle & driver from the local area on arrival at the villa – please speak with our Manager upon check-in at The River House to make necessary arrangements.
If frequent day-trips and longer tours around the country are planned, our guests are recommended to arrange a vehicle & driver well IN ADVANCE of arrival in the country, to be on stand-by for the duration of their holiday. We can recommend/advise travel & transport providers who may be contacted directly or whom we can make arrangements with on guests behalf.
