Taru Villas – Riva, one of the finest villas near Negombo, is a 180-year traditional manor house nestled in a lush five acre coconut estate, inviting you to experience barefoot living whether you’ve just arrived to our island or simply in need of a relaxing getaway.
The seven-bedroom heritage house features a typical courtyard wrapped around a pond, large open verandahs to give you enough space and privacy to enjoy the island winds and the myriad of endemic flora and fauna that visits our villa. The cosy spaces and antique surfaces within the manor house are adorned with intricate paintings by Sri Lankan artists which adds to the rustic charm of the property.
Originally home to 6 generations of a prominent Colombo Chetty family, our walauwwa hosted several important figures over the years too, including Mahatma Ghandi, Prime Minister D.S. Senanayaka, President J.R. Jayawardena, President R. Premadasa, and many others.
